We rent. It happens to be one of the ugliest places I have ever lived.
It was a great price in an awesome neighborhood and we were laughably short on time.
I happen to be pretty creative and a do-it-yourself-er so I shrugged off the popcorn on the ceiling...,the partial paneling, and the HORRIBLE! counter tops in the kitchen.
I was sure I could find a way to disguise or work some magic but the longer I am here the more overpowering all of this nastiness is.
But the space! We have never had this much space! Also, upgrading dramatically if we decide to buy, can happen in the same neighborhood. I am very hesitant to put down roots here in Oklahoma. I don't want to be too hard on this state but I am finding it hard to love...or like. Moving to a cleaner and quieter suburb has helped. Living in the city here was such a drag, we were miserable and we were complaining and fighting more often than usual. The crime is shocking and I've lived in Detroit! Yukon, Oklahoma is not bad. In comparison, it is a breath of fresh air. I'm trying to think in pro's, not con's.
I am ordering some wall stickers. They sound tacky but they are a renter's delight! I am doing to do some painting as well but this website offers some super cute designs. I am getting the smaller Rococo chalkboard for the wall anchoring the bar. I plan on going back to order the birds on a branch when I can think of somewhere it will look good. The old world map is going in my husband's office 'cause he is into that sort of thing and this one is pretty. The adorable trees for my girls' room. I am so excited! Gah!
